Penangan Food Poisoning

Urrghh, last week Tuesday night I was struck by food poisoning during one of my and the hubs' outing to try out new places to eat. It was epic...

It was so bad that I had a case of tak tahan muntah and vomited on the stairs in my house all the way to the bathroom...It was so bad I vomited out of my nose. It was so bad that at one point of time I had stuff coming out of both ends of my body... AT THE SAME TIME.Yupp, epic proportions.

It was not half as bad as Bonda's food poisoning though. Hers (well, her worst one to date) lasted 3 days and she ended up having to CRAWL to the bathroom to vomit. She had to put a water drip on herself because she was so dehydrated. That was just crazy.

Why am I blogging about something so gross? Well, because it has changed my outlook on food since. At the moment, I cannot even look or smell food. All food I look at would make me want to vomit. I just can't bring myself to eat.This has lasted a week!

I am distressed as I consider myself quite the foodie!! And now I can't look at food at all without having a queasy tummy! I now eat small portions of bread, maybe fruit juices at a time but that's about all. At times my body craves sugar so bad, I sip small amounts of root beer but my mind and tummy just can't bear the thought of letting any food go down in my tummy.

I suppose when you have the memory of vomiting out of your nose because of food, you tend not to like food anymore!.

Hope this passes. Miss my old foodie self.

It's a man's world out there..

I don't know why most of my friends would tell me and ask for my advice when having any marital issues. Maybe they know from my blog that I have faced them before and as I have survived, they would want to know how.

A dear friend is going through some tough times and permanent changes in her life. I hope she is strong enough to go through it.

Honestly, I am baffled by the amount of broken families, cheating spouses and marital problems that I have encountered in the short period that I have been on this earth.

We see lectures in TV, radio and facebook about the responsibilities and/or duties of a woman but I find that there so very little talk about the responsibilities and/or duties of a man. Is it because when a female ustazah talks about the responsiblities of a man, people think she must be emotional? And why doesn't the ustaz talk about it more? Is it because he is a man? I don't know. Shouldn't the man be the focus, as they are the leaders and protectors and are supposed to lead us?

I don't know, I have seen families broken in front of my eyes because a husband forgets his financial responsibilities, his filial obligations, his role as a father. Tergila-gilakan perempuan yang bukan halal baginya sampai lupa segala. Mengejar harta-benda sampai lupa agama. Mahukan kebebasan dari keluarga yang melemaskan kononnya tapi tidak tahu batasannya.

A man once told me, that a woman can forgive a cheating husband but a man cannot forgive a cheating wife because we are built differently. And I asked him, is that really so? How are we built differently? Does it mean that women feel less pain when she finds out her husband is having sex with another woman and/or women and the man feels more pain when he finds out that his wife is having sex with another man and/or men?

The man kept quiet. I am sure that he knows deep down, the pain felt for us females is the same as felt by the men. But why do we women stay? I don't know. Maybe we look at the faces of our children and cannot bear to have them grow up without a father. Would a man care about that? I mean if he divorces his wife, he wouldn't have the baggage of having to take care of this children. The ex-wife would. He could just remarry and start over. See your kids once a week, pay a monthly allowance (and some don't even do that). Pretty easy upkeep for a child you are supposed to be responsible for bringing into this world kan? Maybe that's why its easier for the men to leave as they have less to think about.

I tell my friends, whatever you do..make sure you have means to an income. Jangan duduk rumah sahaja harapkan suami. You know the man who shares your bed, the father of your children...how many of them actually think housework is WORK? They come home, complain they're tired, sit themselves in front of the TV and they merely work a 12 hour day maximum. What about you, the housewife who works 24 hours, round the clock. Non-stop?

I had a friend whose husband looked down upon his wife and made a snide comment about her being a housewife. I told her to conduct a social experiment. I told her to start charging her husband for everything she does. The husband said ok. So she charged what a dobi would charge for washing clothes, ironing of all the family's clothes. She charged normal gerai rates for all the food she cooked and the drinks she made. She charged standard house cleaner rates for all the housework that she did.

I told her to itemise everything and put it in an official bill to her husband and at the end of the week when the bill was presented to her husband, her husband looked at the itemised bill, popped his eyes and realised how he could not afford his wife had she charged him for everything that she did. He said sorry and has never made a comment about his wife being a housewife ever since. She tells me he is now very appreciative of what she does.

No guys, this is not about telling wives to berkira dengan suami, this is about getting husbands to wake up and appreciate what their wives do for them.

And so yes, I tell my friends to have an income. And one friend tells me of a new dilemma she faces after having an income. When she wants some duit belanja dari suami, you know what the suami says? 'Apa jadi dengan duit gaji hang bebanyak tu?' . So now, not only does she work and have to do housework. She gets no financial help from her husband because her husband uses the fact that she has a job to squeeze himself out of it.

I almost fell off my chair. I tell my friend, then take what you need only without his knowledge. She almost fell of her chair hahaha.

Dari aisyah r.a berkata: sesungguhnya Hindun datang kepada Rasulullah lalu berkata: “wahai Rasulullah. Abu Sufyan adalah orang yang kikir dan tidak mahu memberikan kepadaku belanja yang cukup untukku dan anakku, sehingga terpaksa aku ambil dari hartanya tanpa pengetahuannya”. Haa, lelaki di luar sana, jangan asyik pasal hadith dan ayat Quran pasal nak kahwin lagi satu jer ye. Ingat hadith ni sekali. Know that your wife can take your money without your knowledge for their needs and children's needs. Yang isteri plak, janganlah ambil melampau sgt. Asal cukup makan dan minum dan pakai anak-anak ok?

For the men who loves to keluar lewat-lewat malam untuk suka suki joli, tipu bini cakap pergi ceramah kat masjid tapi sebenarnya gi karaoke red box dengan God knows who:-

Sigh...I realise that we are living in a man's world. We have reversed all the work our revered Prophet has done to liberate and elevate women to a higher level and freedom. Years of cultural brainwash in a male dominated Malay society where the actions of a man are never questioned and where men, relishing in the position they have been afforded to, forgets that they were put there in the first place for a reason, and not just because of the fact that they are men.

I truly believe that the downfall of our society is due to faulty leaders, leaders of our country, leaders of our religion, leaders of society and leaders of our family. Jika tiada pemimpin yang berkaliber, yang arif hukum dan tanggungjawab mereka di sisi agama, bagaimana org di bawah pimpinan mahu mengikut? Who do they emulate? Who do they follow?

Krabi Food [Part 2] - Baan Lay Thai Kitchen

Baan Lay Thai restaurant was located right beside an elevated stretch of Ao Nang beach so the view was just sublime!!

Beef salad, this was quite yummy

Papaya salad. I was disappointed with this dish. It was bland, obviously toned down to suit the tastes of the western tourists who thinks hot chilli is cabai merah yg besar tu...hahaha

Tom yam was bland too

One of the hits, the steamed squid was a hit, not over cooked and reasonably flavoured to leave a tangy taste in your mouth.

The view is great but the food has more misses than hits. Eat here if you want the 'toned down for the tourists' kinda food.

Ohh yeah, the food here was the most expensive we had in the whole trip. I think we paid for the view...heheh

As my readers would all know, I have been sick for more than a month now. Atok was also sick during the early part of the year.

Both of us have been to the hospital, ubat pun dah ambil. But while the medication helped a little bit with the symptoms, there were no signs of recovering at all.

At times like this, we turn to alternative medication. Imagine our horror when we discovered globs of soil and sand (the types of soil that you would usually find in a graveyard) neatly arranged all around our house.

The witchcraft on my father was so severe that he had to go through SEVEN (7) days of mandi limau. Mine and the rest of the family members were just one day of mandi limau. Can you imagine how bad it was for him?

Imagine my horror when during the alternative medication session, a cold metal knife touching my skin actually left burn marks. Imagine my horror when the 'whatever' the ustaz took from inside my body and stuffed inside a plastic bottle, the bottle started to roll and shake on the floor on its own. Takde angin ok.

Alhamdullillah, my cough has 90% literally dissipated overnight.

I am not into in this kind of stuff but heck, there are some things that you just cannot explain logically and our family has gone through this time and time again. Remember the blood coming out of the floor of our house episode sometime ago?

I wish I knew who did this to us. And no, not because I want to be vindictive or because I am angry or what. It is because I know that people like this, there is nothing they fear more other than EXPOSURE. Being known for perlakuan keji mereka. There is nothing they fear more than being discovered. And I do not want them to do this to anybody else.

I know a few people out there who practices witchcraft as a way of life. Like if there is anything they want or do not want or do not like, mesti nak pergi jumpa b^$%*. Demam pergi jumpa b$%^&, rasa gemuk pergi jumpa b^%$%, masak tak sedap pergi jumpa b$%^&, not doing well at work or school pergi jumpa b%)(h. Nak husband/isteri sayang pergi jumpa b#%^^. Nak pikat awek/lelaki pergi jumpa &^^%@. Memang I know them personally. Aduh, kenal org mcmni memang meremang bulu roma.

You nak jahanamkan diri you sendiri sbb percaya ada benda yang lebih hebat dari kuasa Tuhan, you go ahead la kan, but why nak dengkikan orang? Kegilaan apa yang sanggup mendorong orang pergi ambil tanah kubur susun dekat rumah org lain?

Bukankah kuasa yang paling hebat dimiliki oleh Allah yang Maha Esa? Do these people not fear balasan dari Yang Maha Esa?

Semoga Allah swt membalas dengan balasan yang setimpal terhadap sesiapa yang bertanggungjawab. Biarlah dia merasa pula kesakitan yang dia telah lakukan terhadap kami dan sesiapa saja yang telah dianayai olehnya selama ini. Amin.

Kohinoor, Solaris Dutamas

I must say, this is one of the hidden gems of Solaris Dutamas indeed. I have been to this restaurant which serves authentic North Indian cuisine at least 3 times and have never been disappointed with the food. My colleague NIN and I are ardent fans of this place.

While waiting for our mains...we were given complimentary munchies. The pakoras are not the soggy types that you would find in most mamak shops, these are crunchy and full of flavour. We were also served some fresh poppadoms with a cool mint dip and a sweet sauce. Heaven!!

This is our vege order. Mushroom. I honestly forgot the name of the dish... but wow, it was so full of flavour

The chicken order of the day, sucker of a customer I am, I can't remember the name of the dish!! but it was slowly spicy with pronounced flavours that burst with every bite!!

My rice and our lamb order! lamb kebabs!! There are at least 10 varieties of lamb kebab dishes alone. The meat was red from the ingredients it was marinated in. Honestly every bite was just pure unadulterated food porn for me. Yummy till the very last bite.

Airiel's Playschool

Just some updates on Airiel. He started playschool last week.

I dare say he looks like he is having fun! He cries everytime I drop him off and it just breaks my heart. But then his teacher sends me these photos and my heart just melts and I feel a little bit jealous even. I can't be there to see all this. Sigh

He'll turn 3 this march!

Ohh, no matter how many other things burn and burn me. This is the one thing that keeps me going.

Back at Work

After a week hiatus of being sick sick and so sick...I am back at work. It feels good to be up and running although full recovery is 2 or even 3 weeks away.

Airiel is in playschool now... and apart from the first few minutes of separation anxiety where he cries, as soon as I leave he is ok.

Piles of work await.. so updates later yeah?

Down with the sickness

Like I have said in my previous posts, I have been super sick. I still am at the moment...

Its funny how when you're sick, your mind tends to wander to things past, present and sometimes dreams for the future. While drifting in and out of consciousness due to my medication, i vaguely remember Aries' tears falling on my cheeks and whispering to me in my sleep word I cannot make out or remember, that he was stroking my forehead and hair...did I imagine that? I don't know... i honestly don't remember.

I remember shivering with a fever so high on Sunday and vaguely remember Aries holding my hand and kissing my forehead before he left for JB. Was that truly real? Such a blur it was.

I vaguely remember Airiel, my soul coming in and out of my room to check on me. I remember him kissing my forehead everytime he would visit me and he would 'I love you' before he left. How in my drowsiness from medication, I would still tear up and cry. And despite my best efforts, Airiel and Aries have gotten my bug and Airiel was taken to the clinic today.

How Bonda got the best medication for me, and how in the course of treating me, she caught my bug and ended up sick as well.

How Nenda cooked the best home made rice porridge in the world, put it in a bowl and took it upstairs for me to eat because I couldn't keep any food down and my joints and ribs ached so much that I couldn't go down and get it myself.

How Atuk, in his usual fashion got me some air doa for me to drink so that I would get better.

My dreams are equally weird, I dreamt of being at moyang's house stroking her forehead as she slept with her loyal maid by her side. I dreamt of being in my white kancil where Aries first proposed to me 2 weeks after we met. I dreamt of seeing Airiel after the doctors took him out of my tummy and showed me his little, tiny feet...

How in my pain and suffering, I have become closer to Allah.

My word, I am LOVED.

How this sickness have opened my eyes to that..

There is indeed no greater joy in life than the knowledge that you are loved.

I hope to get better soon. Please pray for us in the family who are sick. Amin

Playing Sims 3 on My Mac

To reward myself for all the hard work I did last year, I bought myself the complete set of Sims 3 (original ok?). It cost me a bomb, but what the heck... I sure as hell deserved it hehehe.

And you thought that spending so much money on the damn thing was hard? Trust me, it was even harder to install on the mac. The CDs bought can be used to install the game on both normal pc and mac.

Ok, let me list down the sims 3 packs I bought, in the order is has to be installed. Installing it in a particular order ensure that the game runs smoothly, although I have seen some people just going crazy with the installation and not having a problem at all, so I suppose it just depends on your luck.

Ok, so I know that Sims 3 came out with the Pets Expansion Pack recently, but I'm not big on taking care of virtual pets and according to The Sims Resource ("TSR") my fave website for anything and everything sims, it can screw with your custom content, so I didn't buy it.

Anyways, after installing all the above in order, I couldn't start the game. After twiddling with the system a bit, I realised the Ambitions Expansion Pack was messing with my game. So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything else in order except Ambitions and voila, the game could start!!!. Wee hee..!!! Now don't forget to install the patches in between installs, no worries as it is automated, they would ask you whether you wanted to download an update.

Now, here comes the tricky part which is the custom content, I downloaded like a ton of custom content and of course, all of it disappeared. Downloading a majority of my custom content of TSR, i only deal with Sims3pack content and generally don't bother downloading other formats i.e. packages etc.

Solution? Well, I had to reinstall all the custom content again. To make sure it shows up in the EA downloader, I opened up a Downloads folder in the Sims 3 folder after re-installing it and yehaaa, it works!

I am still in the midst of re-installing all my Sims3pack, tedious but makes the gameplay a hell of a lot more fun!!

And you guys thought I'd buy a bag!! Hahahaha, erkkkk actually I did that too...but that's for another post.

I promise I'd write posts about the food in Krabi, but have not gotten around to doing it yet. I promise I'll do it! Promise!!

Well, technically it is not the end of the year for us muslims. So that explains why there were no celebrations on our end. I did what I wish I could do everyday.... I spent time with those who matter most. Pictures speak where words seem to fail me..

I am back at work with the worst sore throat and cough I have had in years. I am croaking at the moment. Sigh. Here is to the beginning of the working year!!

Friday - I was supposed to be on leave but had to go to the office for a meeting, left in the afternoon to take airiel to the clinic after being bitten by a cat. This is him hugging his fave dino to the clinic

was spent in Bentong, Pahang for a kenduri. Bonda and Nenda and I and a bunch of us was doing the groundwork for the kenduri

Airiel's 1st LRT ride

Airiel's crazy about trains. So crazy in fact, Aries and I decided to take him on an LRT ride to ease his curiosity about it.

Haha, just melts...melts me. On a separate note, the pressure is on to have another child. Erkkkk... my 1st pregnancy was quite horrific and the fact that Aries was absent has made me have some sort of a phobia to even get pregnant again. Is that normal? I don't know...

Hadramawt, Johor Bahru

On one of my recent court attendances in JB where Aries was sick, we stayed in and did something we would not usually do, we dined at hotel restaurants.

We ate at Putri Pacific's in house restaurant, Hadramawt.

I loved how rich fabrics lined the ceiling

and the walls

ambiance was warm and cozy

the decorations adorning the wall

the tabouleh which is a must for me to each middle eastern restaurant I go to. I loved how this is sour and slightly sweet (from the onion) with a tangy taste in each bite

despite Aries' tonsils, he lapped up the bread

this was garlic lamb, to be eaten with the bread. This was hands down to me, the best dish of the night. Lamb was tender and fried with garlic and other spices. Yummy

my mixed grill. I loved the chicken and lamb but the meat kebab was a tad bit dry.

the rice that came with the kebab. Actually all the kebabs were supposed to be served with fries but I asked for that to be replaced with rice instead. Thought it was a tad weird to be eating kebab with fries (although this was common in the UK, but hey we're in JB right?)

I was happy with the meal and would come back again.

It is a Monday with less than 2 weeks in for 2011. Have a great week ahead people!!!

Baan Habeebee Resort, Krabi

Ok, as I have promised Jas that I would blog about my experience in Krabi. Next up would have to be the accomodation right.

We stayed in Baan Habeebee Resort, Krabi. We loved this place. The pics are up in facebook and not here but let me share some which just shows how beautiful this place is:-

The resort is small and cozy with only 6 cottages. Perfect for couples and small families. It is 5 mins by motorcyle from Ao Nang town which I loved because I did not want to be too near the noise and hustle and bustle of the tourists. It has a lovely swimming pool.

Motorcycles are up for rent at a cheap price at the resort. The pics you see on the resort's website show exactly how the rooms are. Beautiful and tasteful.

Above all, Mac and her small team who run the place are absolute angels and will try to fulfill your every need!.

Reflections

I'm sure you're tired of hearing/reading my tirade about how much crap I endured to stay with Aries in this long distance marriage. How things were so bad at one point of time, leaving seemed to be the only option for me. How faith has managed to get me to see things in a different light. How I am still here. How we are still together and have just turned 4.

It's almost a year now since all that has passed. I am ok on most days. But on some days it is just really bad. although it is not as bad as how I would feel a year ago.

I mean, why am I complaining? Aries has changed a lot since those days. People make mistakes don't they? Why am I worried? Is it because he is genetically predisposed? Aren't we all prisoners of our upbringing? Sometimes things need to get worse before they can get better....right?

And the above describes it. Thinking about things doesn't help at all. And I try not to. I keep myself busy. I think about how much I love my Airiel. I think about the friends I have. I think about how I am blessed to have the greatest family as a support system. I think about how blessed I am to wake up and go to a job that I absolutely love. I think about how we were and how much we endured to be together.

But I get fickle, and I get greedy. I want EVERYTHING. And no one person in this world gets everything they want. Allah gives you something else, and takes something else away. It keeps and preserves the balance, it is the ying and yang, it is life. I understand that, and yet I am discontent.

Krabi Food [Part 1] - Frasai Seafood

Hello!

As promised, updates about Krabi. Since I am a notorious foodie, I'll start with the aspects that are closest to my heart, the food!!

This is the food we had on our first day in Krabi.

I don't know what drink this is but its lovely and refreshing

Som Tum [Papaya Salad] Hands down the best som tum we had while we were in Krabi. I was addicted to this. Masam and pedas

The tom yum which was tangy and sour and pedas. Sgt sedap!!

Crab meat omelette. I would say its an acquired taste because the flavour combination was weird to me.

Frasai seafood is halal and is run my muslims [siap pakai tudung lagi and there was even a girl who knew how to speak fluent malay as she spent some years in langkawi working as a cook]. You can find the stall at the nopparat thara pier where all the boats stop to pick up passengers for their tour. Just keep a look out for the girl with the scarf selling deep fried goodies right at the front.

Pejam celik, it has been 4 years since Aries held my father's hand and said 'Aku terima nikahnya....'

Things have not been easy since that day... but things that come easy for you are less memorable are they not? A favourite quote of mine on love was one that was by Louis De Bernieres, and it reflects what I have been through in so far as this institution is concerned:-

"Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Rightful owner of my Heart...

I get terrified whenever my wedding anniversary draws near.

Nothing good ever happens to my marriage on my anniversary. 3 years in a row, something bad always
happens when my anniversary draws near.

My heart is terrified of something bad happening this year. I repeat, TERRIFIED. Maka hati ini berdoa.

And then I read this quote on facebook:-

Ok, I should be telling you about my eating escapades again..but I am lazy. Malas malas malas...

Ujian Akhir Tahun

And I wish my title above referred to PMR or SPM or something. But alas...

Something always happens to our family every end of the year.

Nenda was the first, and had to be admitted and undergo surgery for her fibroid. I was in high school.

And then it was Atok and his heart attack, it was at this time we realised that Atok was taking way too much responsibility for Maksu and the family and had decided to start having a maid. I was also high school as well I think.

And then it was Maksu were she had to be admitted for 2 weeks for a severe allergic reaction to something. Not only that, she developed DVT during her stint in the hospital and had to take warfarin which she had to take for a long time. I think I was still in law school. At this time, I think I had already met Aries and although we were not married, he was there for the family throughout the ordeal. I think it was at that point of time I knew he was really intent on being with me for the long haul, thick and thin you know what I mean? I was sold on him. Hehe

When I was heavily preggers with Airiel, Atok was admitted for Busung kat hospital. Lepas operation that showed he was not medically sick, pergi berubat kampung pulak. I think this was the worst time for all of us in the family as there was a very real fear in us that Atok, although being a fighter that he is... may not make it out of this one. Syukur kepada Allah kerana it all worked out ok.

And the next year it was Bonda with her eye surgery and her 'I am legally half blind but I am my father's daughter and I am tough and I drive anywhere anyway...' And in the same year after that it was Ayah with his busung again, this time tak masuk spital, terus pergi berubat. I was suffering from severe ashesion colic and at times I would just feel like 'Ya Allah, dah nak matike hambaMu ini? Sakitnye tak tertahan...'

And this year, Bonda had to have her hempedu surgery, some other health issues and now...bring the drum roll please!!! Giliran Maksu tiba!! Maksu has been bleeding non-stop and is scheduled to have surgery next week to install a contraption to make the bleeding stop and to have her checked out to see whether there is anything else which is wrong with her. I am worried, Maksu being a disabled with a host of medical conditions and allergies and going under during the surgery...the family all knows the risks. So today is the 'I am worried and cannot bring myself to eat' day.

Our household and especially matters concerning Maksu, are run like a well oiled machine. So while Bonda deals with all the medical issues in our nucleus family, I deal with the legal aspects of Maksu and everybody else, makes sure that bills are paid, that loans for cars are paid on time and that everything is order for the smooth running of the house. I come up with the expected budget for household expenditure and approve claims made by other family members in respect of Maksu's medical bills etc. It is a labour of love on the part of all us.

Allah itu Maha Kaya. Ujian seperti ini, our family expects at every end of the year. It humbles us, scares the shit out of us and makes us realise what is really important in our lives and that is each other. Walaupun risau, hati tetap rasa bersyukur dan berterima kasih atas segala rezeki yang telah dikurniakan.

Like I have said before, things are tough, yes that is true. But make no mistake, WE... this nucleus family of ours are tougher.

Pray for us readers, you may think its nothing..but trust me when I say that there is nothing more powerful than the effect of a prayer.

I am supposed to draft a Board Paper on an ongoing litigation to inform the Board of a bla bla bla company (which is by the way due today) and I have not started yet. I am just not inspired at the moment, you know what I mean?

I mean its all in my mind right now, what I want to say and how I want to say things, but instead of typing that I am typing this entry. Shucks. My mind is not into it and I am so screwed...

You know that trial which I had to conduct on my own in the midst of COA appeals and FC appeals and rushing and splitting myself into 3 places and at the same time getting myself locked out of my car in the middle of the highway which I talked about? Well, I won that one. Yeay!! So it was worth it!! My own trial!! I think I have a few more of those coming up. So yeay to more experience for me.That kind of experience no amount of money can buy..

I am supposed to list down what to do and buy before going off to Krabi. Like I said, its all in my head but I cannot seem to put it down on paper.

POS Malaysia drama

I have not been shopping online lately. Much of course have to do with me spending bucketloads on stuff in Dubai and saving more money for my trip to Krabi next, but its actually more than that.

I have been having some drama with the POS Malaysia people. All this while I have received like hundreds, heck maybe even thousands of packages from Poslaju. What happens is, I leave my IC No. with my maids. When the postman comes, they fill in my I.C No and take the package on my behalf, I think for the past 3 years +, that was how it went.

About 2 weeks ago, the postman called me up telling me he cannot deliver my parcel because he cannot verify that I shall receive the package. I said, well you called me and I can confirm now that my maid is receiving my package on my behalf, so please give it to her. This postman said, No, your maid needs to show him a copy of her passport. I got a bit peeved and asked him why he needed such a thing? He just said it was POS Malaysia's policy.

I had reservations about making copies of my maids' pasport and showing it to random people. What if they took that copy and maliciously make a police report or something like that? What if they use that copy to forge another pasport? The possibilities are endless and believe you me, Aries being in the criminal law line has seen it all and agreed with me that all this was possible.

I had an argument with the Postman back and forth and he put down the phone. When I tried calling him again later on a number of occasions, he never picked up. I smsed him by saying, that I have received hundreds of packages where my maids just put my IC no. down and accepted it on my behalf and that was fine. He said no, he wants to see a copy of the passport. It was the pasport or nothing, meaning the parcel would not be delivered and I would have to pick it up at the collection center, a jammed, in the middle of nowhere place which would cost precious time. Needless to say, I never got my package. I had to pick it up later, which in all honesty I had no time to do. I have all the smses by this postman kept as evidence in my phone. Sedeynye. Sob sob

I was like, POS Malaysia's policy? I mean c'mon, even if they do have such a policy, have they not by their conduct on the thousands of occasions they have delivered packages to my house, waived such strict compliance with that policy? Why strictly insist now? Do they know how much of an inconvenience they are causing to me as a customer? Sigh

I would do anything so that I do not have to show my maid's passport to the postman! I mean his requirement is a bit offensive to me! What else can I do? So now I have stopped shopping online because I do not want to deal with these people!!!

And then a couple of days ago, my sister had made an order for some food which we needed to sample as wedding favours for a relative. And she had it delivered to our house and guess what? Same thing!! I think because of my previous argument with the postman, he has now blacklisted our house!! Typical. And you know what made it worse? My sister then went to the collection centre and guess what, the postman has not even returned with her parcel which contained the food i.e. perishable goods! So the collection centre called the postman up and spoke to the postman and he said he'll drop by the house. And so my sister went back to our house and waited...only to receive a call from that postman to say 'he is to busy to drop by because he has so many parcels to deliver'!!! sampai hati kan? kan? kan? So in the end my sister had to pick up the food the next morning!! Sigh...

Has this happened to any of you out there? Is there such a policy by POS Malaysia? Can someone help me out here? I do not want to make a copy of my maids' passport to show to anyone. I don't think its a reasonable request for them to make, unless of course you're the immigration department or something...then bolehlah kan. If they want to verify its my house or I will accept the package for sure, just call me and I can confirm it. But this kind of request I just find it a tad too unreasonable. The problem is during the day, no one is at home save for the maids and on occasion, my dad.

Sigh, I am stumped. What do I do? I am so sad to be getting this kind of treatment from them. I am thinking of getting the blogshops I order from now on to courier the stuff to me using other courier companies and I am willing to pay more for it because I do not like the way I am treated as a customer.

I am an unhappy customer indeed!!

And then to realise that work is waiting in the office. So here I am.. I thought I would have Monday blues (disguised as Tuesday) but I am quite productive today.

I am tired though and can barely keep my eyes open.

I cannot wait to have a proper getaway in 2 weeks time.

Ever the Perakian, he formed the Persatuan Anak-Anak Perak and it was reported here.

And these are just the ones that are reported. I have a folder of the clippings in Sinar and elsewhere where Ayah has contributed with his heart and soul. And belum lagi instances where he just goes anonymously to help those in need.

We have at home, always a ready supply of rice, oil, onions, eggs, salt, flour that Ayah will give away when someone in need calls or when he is informed that there is someone out there who needs help. If there is not enough to give out, we take whatever we have from our own kitchen. Pernah sekali dulu, hati ibu terasa berat sebab tengok makanan kat dapur tiada langsung (memang naluri wanita itu risau melihat makanan tiada di dapur bukan? Bagaimana harus memberi makan kepada keluarga betultak?). Lalu ayah berkata, jgnlah bersedih, tuhan akan gantikan dengan makanan 10 kali ganda. And yes, that was what happened. Our kitchen has never been empty, murahnya rezeki MasyaAllah tiada terkata. I believe it is due to what my father does every day. Helping those he does not know. Helping those who have been forgotten.

And my father admitted during the last election in Puchong that winning the seat he contested for is almost impossible. But you know what, he lost to Satim Diman by a mere 45 VOTES. And there was 800 lebih undi rosak. Apa ada hal?

My father loves politics, no doubt. It is in his blood I know, but he is not just another politician and I am not just saying that because he is my father. You know what makes him different? Dia ikhlas. And people tell me chivalry is dead. I tell them, what about keikhlasan?, have you seen that lately?. I tell you such a quality is non-existent these days.

The word 'keikhlasan' reminds of Oprah. I look at her and her journey and I truly believe bahawa dia adalah seorang yg ikhlas. I remember John Travolta saying to Oprah on the kick-off episode of her last season "Oprah, there is only one of you and there will never be another one..." and I remember my father, for he truly is an individual yang hanya ada satunya, dan sesungguhnya tiada gantinya.

I have reiterated in my past posts on how I am apathetic to all things political, and my father knows this. This is unlikely to change. But I am proud nevertheless of my father and who he is as a person, politics aside.

I respect my father not just because he is my father, but because he is a respectable man.

Birthday dinner marathon

Aries baik hati balik awal and treated me to 2 consecutive dinners for turning 28.

My lamb rack (which looked suspiciously like lamb chops to me hehe). I did enjoy the lamb though. Who would have thought that there were wedges underneath the lamb? Hehe

And the next day, it was Meatworks at Citta Mall. They have an outlet in Solaris Mont Kiara. But this outlet in Citta Mall is huge!!. I was so impressed. They have a groceries area which sells the exclusive Jamie Oliver products and seasonings which I have not seen elsewhere.

Just like a meat deli in the UK (teringat nostalgia plak)

The onion soup was hearty and came with toasted bread floated on top of the soup. We both enjoyed this.

Aries ordered the cheesecake here. To me it was not as cheesy as I would have liked it but Aries loved it as he hates overly rich desserts. We finished this one.

This is my 200gm T-Bone which I loved. It was cooked pink and was absolutely delicious till the last bite)

Aries rack of ribs (3 racks) which he finished. The meat was tender and basically melted in our mouths.

We absolutely loved the food at meatworks!!

The new FB settings annoy the hell out of me and does not respect the user's privacy at all. So I have installed Better Facebook to customize my FB and revert to the original settings. It is a free app and is great!

Online Shopping - Update 6

Honestly, I have lost count of how many online shopping escapades I have had this year. I have not blogged about online shopping for a while sampai ada readers tanya, 'Nape takde online shopping update?'. Errr...well ok.

Well, truth be told, I have not shopped online for a while. Sedih dan kasihan melihat Aries bekerja keras and masyaAllah he buys me everything I want and requests for asalkan tak keterlaluan. Alhamdulillah. Bukankah baik dan buruknya seorang lelaki itu boleh dilihat dari cara mereka melayan isteri mereka ?. Pernah baginda Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda, ‘sebaik-baik lelaki adalah yang paling baik, kasih dan lemah lembut terhadap isterinya.’. Take heed, husbands hehehehe.

Anyways back to online shopping. You should only buy something when it catches your eye lah kan? Don't buy for the sake of buying something betul tak? I have bought a few things recently online.

I don't follow trends so I did not know that there is this trend going around right now called 'colour-blocking'. At the time, I just thought these baju kurung's looked really cute. So I bought these 2. They are from Modish Mode House

I like this slouchy long sleeved top which is quite labuh and covers my booty. This light blue colour is cute, and its from Little White Crane.

And that is all!!

Sigh, I'm off for a trip next week. And without family, is so NOT looking forward to it. Anyways..will let you in on the location later.

We both ordered the same set, which came with drinks and dessert.

Both of us ordered Nasi Kerabu Daging. The meat was tender, but other than that, it was nothing extraordinary

The ambiance was nice.

Total damages was around RM72 bucks. For nasi kerabu that was not 'mind blowingly' good? That was a tad bit too pricey for me.

Maybe i'll try other dishes next time to see why this place is so popular.

I blogged about how everything happened on a Thursday, in my last post kan?

Well, I forgot to tell you the best part of last Thursday which I had.

I was getting ready for my trial. Having your own trials in a big firm such as mine is a BIG deal. Clients pay top dollar for top people in action. Having a client believe in you enough so you can conduct your own does not happen very often. I appreciated that.

I wanted to be in court bright and early. And left the house for Jalan Duta early. I realised my oil tank was getting empty and so after entering the Duta highway, I stopped at Shell to fill up my gas. The petrol attendant was hitting on me (not something unnatural, the same petrol attendant did that the last time I was here). I smiled, chatted with him and drove off.

As I was driving off, a van driver told me that my petrol cover was open. I was like 'darn petrol attendant, ngorat aku sampai lupa tutup tempat isi minyak'. Anyways. I stopped at the side of the road. Closed the door to my car and closed the potrol cover and suddenly had a realisation that my car had automatically locked itself.

You see, ever since we serviced our honda and upgraded the lock system, the car locks automatically when the engine starts and the doors are all closed. Previously, it only locks when the car starts moving. And so here I was, at the side of the highway, locked out of my car, with nothing. My phone was in car so I could not call anyone for help. And on the first day of my trial no less!!!!

My heart sank! Cars and motorcycles passed me without so much as a glance. Cops passed me by without stopping. And the sun was rising, my trial was starting soon. I wanted to call out to my Aries, but I realised that I was sans a phone ...and Aries lived in JB. He is not here. Sigh..

And so I prayed. I prayed from within the deepest parts of my heart and closed my eyes. And a motorcyle stopped. Abg 1 gave me his phone so I could call Atok. The spare keys were at home and Atok could take it so I could open the door to my car. I sort of told Atok where I was but was not sure if he knew where it was. I called the office to tell a chambie who was helping me out on that day to stand the matter down.

And so after all that help, Abg 1 left. And a long time passed. I was getting worried that Atok did not know where I was or misjudged my position. I prayed.

Another motorcycle stopped. Abg 2 had a real concerned look on his face. I told him, I think Atok is waiting at the petrol station (shell) for me. I don't think he'll find me here. He told me, hop on his motorcycle, let him take me there.

I was..hmmm can I trust this guy? What if he is a sex maniac or something? But I needed his help and beggars can't be choosers. And the voice inside my heart says 'have faith that Allah is giving you a way out of this'. So with nothing but blind faith, I hopped on his motorcycle.

He drove against traffic until we reached the petrol station. Atok was actually walking at the side of the road as he misjudged how far I was from the petrol station. Abg 2 bersalam dengan Atok and told me, ikutla atok as he needs to rush off for his work.

I took atok's car and we drove to Stevie. And when we reached there.Abg 2 was actually there waiting!!! He told Atok, he was afraid that someone might break into the car, so he waited. I wanted to give him money, but he flat our refused. He said something which I had not heard or seen for some time. He said to me and Atok 'Takpe encik, cik, saya tolong ni ikhlas'.

I did not even catch his name. He drove off after refusing the money I/Atok tried to give him. I drove to Court just in time for the trial. Then I rushed to the Court of Appeal, then the Federal Court pulak. It was a busy week as my trial continued again on Friday.

But the incident did not escape my mind. The kindness of Abg 1 and particularly Abg 2 touched me.

You see, we do not live in a kind world. When was the last time kita benar benar 'ikhlas' melakukan sesuatu? What he did renewed my faith in the kindness I have not seen in years, in keikhlasan which I thought I will never see again. Their kindness moved me to tears.

Allah works in mysterious ways. And I thank Allah for locking me out of my car that fateful Thursday. I thank Allah for letting me see and believe in kindness and keikhlasan which at the time I truly thought no longer exists. I do now. I feel it now. Terima kasih Allah.

What a week...

This week without a doubt, has been the busiest so far this year.

Had to rush like mad for a trial on Thursday (no, not me with the bosses, my own trial. Yikess!!!). What made it worse was that:-

(a) There was also a hearing in the Federal Court on the same day so finalise finalise the Core Bundles, arrange boxes for bosses bla bla bla;

(b) There was also a hearing in the Court of Appeal. We asked for an adjournment but surprise surprise, we did not get one. They only agreed to stand it down until 12.00. An adjournment requested because we were caught in the FC were refused and we only knew it was refused on Tuesday. What does this mean? It means we had to finalise our submission and bundle of authorities all by Wednesday, before the hearing on Thursday.

See how everything seems to fall on a Thursday? Get my drift? At the same time, I had overdue opinions (2 in fact this same week, 1 of which is still overdue by the way....hishhh), settlement agreements, blah blah blah...Shesshhh

Verdict : Lack of sleep + never ending adrenalin rush + not enough time with Airiel = Tired and slightly miserable

I hate to admit it but I sort of miss Aries as well. Eheh

And the loss of Steve Jobs. What a legacy he has left. Everybody has read his Standford Speech after his passing. I read that speech in late 2005 a few months after he gave it. At the time I could not understand the hype surrounding a Mac, and despite his speech, it was still some time until I converted (yes, converted) to a Mac and never looked back.

But what he said touched me. I have the video in my Mac playlist I keep on Youtube. At times when I feel that I am lost, I would listen to it. And I would wake up the next day with renewed vigour. Let me me share with you the parts of his speech which I cherish the most:-

"Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

Wake Up Call

I have never really cared much about my health...

I mean, I have been plagued with a fugly skin condition since birth and because of that I bleed and get cuts so easily. You know when your skin gets so dry it cracks and you can see the pink flesh underneath? That happens to me a lot.

And then Bonda made a casual comment one day, 'you better not get diabetes..'. And then right...I realised how freaking scared I was. I mean, I get cuts and and bleed all the time. If I get diabetes, confirm habis semua kena potongla kan...macamlam kalau sakit ada org nak jaga diri in kan. So kenala jaga diri sendiri.

I have never exercised in my life after kahwin, dulu time bujang rajinla buat aerobiks ke aper.

So now I have to start taking care of what I eat and start taking care of my health..and I have managed to influence my colleagues kt ofis to start PILATES.

Yupp, yours truly akan mula ber'pilates' starting this week.

Am trying to desperately cut down on my coffee intake and have resorted to drinking fruit juices instead (poyo kan? what the hell, this is my health we are talking about).

Berusaha tangga kejayaan, cegah sebelum kena.

InsyaAllah akan beristiqamah dalam usaha menjaga nikmat 'kesihatan' yang dikurniakan.

Hanging On When Your Heart Has Had Enough...

Had a domestic in respect of balancing my work and my duties as a mother. It is amazing how I feel like crap when anybody makes a comment about me being absent in Airiel's life.

I have written about how this issue has bugged me in my previous posts.

I honestly cannot try and keep juggling everything. This is my work, it is my calling, it is my passion..
But I have always put Airiel first. He is always my priority. I think about him all the time at work. Like that Bruno Mars' song. I would jump in front of a train for him, I would put my hand on a blade for him and I would die for him. No question about it.

What else must I do? I keep this blog and post about these things in the hope that in the future, Airiel and my other kids can read this and understand how hard it is for me to wake up in the morning and leave them to go to work. I hope they can understand that when they are sick, I pray to God with tears running down my face to ask that I be sick instead. I cannot even see Airiel get injected...I just burst into tears.

There is not a day that goes by that Mama does not feel sorry and bad for leaving you and going to work. There is not a day that goes by without Mama feeling like she wants to give this all up and spend every possible second with you.

NOT EVEN ONE DAY.

Mama thinks about being with you ALL THE TIME, EVERY DAY.

Sims 3 Crazy

Hello, its a new week already here in Malaysia.

Airiel is getting much better after taking some furious medication by the dermatologist. Another checkup is due this Saturday, so I hope by then the spots will be eliminated completely . If it isn't, they have to take Airiel's blood for further tests, and I hate seeing Airiel being poked.

Anyways, Bonda went and bought me a Sims 3 game for mac and I am hooked. I love the custom content installer that comes with the game by EA:-

This is different from sims 2 where you have to download installers made by fans of custom content. Coolness!

Sims 3 allows for sims to drive their own cars! Hehehe...

My fave website for free downloads of custom content for the sims 3 is The Sims Resource. I mean look at the endless options in so far as custom content is concerned below:-

And what's even better, it comes in either a sims3pak file or zip file and not .package files which are easier to install.

I am a happy camper...and I am currently looking for the expansions and add ons of course (anybody willing to sell it to me cheap? hehe or better still free? ehhehe).

Now, the question that remains is how the heck am I going to juggle working 10 hour days, being a Mom, a wife and a gamer too? Hmmmn, we will see....

I have happily found my dream whiteboard for the office!!!

Airiel is sick...

I came home today and saw how bad it was and I cried the moment I saw him...and I cried and I cried...and I'm still crying...

I thought it was a normal rash at first, or some kind of infection skit sebab garu tempat gigit nyamuk ke..but looking at him today I know something is terribly wrong.

I have an appointment with a skin specialist at 9.00 am tomorrow. I cannot stand seeing him injected, poked at...it upsets me greatly.. Thank God Bonda and Nenda will be with me. Thank you both of you... you are my ROCK.

I hope everything goes alright tomorrow. Pray for me and Airiel readers! Thank you

House of Kebab, Solaris Dutamas

Hi,

Another foodie update.

A lot of eateries opening up at the office and on one of the days me and a colleague decided to go to House of Kebab.

I love middle eastern food!

The Menu

The Salad, loved the olives! However, after a couple of bites, the sharpness of the salad dressing was a bit too much for my tongue

This was what I ordered, lamb and chicken kebab with rice. As you can see, the portions were quite huge. I loved the lamb, but the chicken tasted quite bland honestly

This was the gravy that came with the set. It has a tangy flavour which complimented the lamb really well

My colleague ordered garlic yogurt... yummy!

This was what my colleague ordered, lamb kebabs with rice.

House of Kebab is located at G4, at the very end of the road leading down to G3, it has a great view of the Wilayah Persekutuan mosque and has shisha's for those who like them.

I love the food and will definitely go again!!

SKII update (3)

Hi guys!!

A reader has apparently followed my journey with SKII and has asked me to post an update. Okies, so here goes.

Almost a year since I have started using SKII, there are definite changes to my skin.

This is me without compact powder, liquid foundation or the like today. This is my face 'bare'.

From the flaky complexion which I used to have, this is what I have now. No flakes in sight. Previous products I used would irritate my skin, making it red but SKII seems to not have such an effect at all!!.

I used to wear night creams from other brands only to wake up with extremely oily skin, and when I wash it off, my skin then flakes because the cleanser is too strong. I think my skin is still extremely sensitive to cleansers, but I have found the perfect cleanser for me so far, and this is the only non-SKII product I use in my skincare regiment:-

Cheap and so effective!! SKII does of course have its oil cleanser, but I still prefer this one because of the price point plus!!

I am a happy and satisfied SKII user!

The Siput Sedut Lemak Cili Api, which is apparently a specialty here. The gravy was delicious but you have to be careful with the siput sedut, some of them were bad. But it really is a matter of luck really, as you can't really tell if the siput is still ok to eat until you taste it

Chilli's, Citta Mall

A new community mall is open in Ara Damansara!

Can you imagine how ecstatic our family is, as this makes everything so convenient!!!

We dropped by yesterday for a late lunch at Chillis.

Aries had the huge ribs...!!! which if course he could not finish at the end of the meal

I had the ceaser salad, with the lime grilled shrimp as an add on. This was a sore point for me... i mean ...there were barely 4 or 5 shrimps in the whole salad, and from 19 bucks to almost 30 bucks for the add on, I was not happy. Other than that, the salad was nice

We strangely received our main courses before our starters. Apparently the staff forgot our order..and whats worse, when we could not finish them, we could not pack them to take away home! 20 for that and we could not take it home...Sigh..

There are definite hiccups in the service, but overall everyone was friendly. The place is new so it would naturally take time. The following shops are already open or in the midst of opening in Citta Mall:-

For friends who have known me long enough, they would know how much this blog has helped me in retaining my sanity.

I love sharing my days, my happiness, my sadness, my online shopping experience with friends and foe's alike. I take criticism in whatever way both my friends and foes would like to dish it, although I must say that I won't take it lying down la kan...

I once resolved to never ever make this blog private...and was once talked out of it by a friend when i did go down that line after a misunderstanding...

But I supposed, one of my posts titled 'A Spade is a Spade After All' pushed the mark too far and I offended the relatives in my posts who then attacked my dad, saying things like me being 'biadap' and that he 'tak pandai ajar anak'.

I do not regret writing what I wrote, because it was all true. But I do regret being too harsh in the language used... resulting in my dad getting all these demeaning smses from my uncles. Like that post which I wrote, the family crisis between my family and the rest of my uncles have been long ongoing because of my aunt. But now, I have just made it worse...

They say 'Mentang-mentang le dah keje besar...' and I reflect and think, could what they say be true?

I have always been brought up to tell the truth, address issues and bring it out in the open and resolve it, and my dad had always told me to do it without fear and favour... does that make me biadap? Honestly, I dont know...

Today was an especially difficult day for me... I feel lost, like the very principles which I have steadfastly held on to holds no meaning when it comes to my relatives...

I feel lost because I have gotten my father, the nicest man on earth... into trouble.

I feel lost because with a heavy heart, I had to make a decision to make this blog private so I can continue to keep this sacred space of mine ...well... mine.

What's worse is...those relatives are now emphasising on HOW I wrote the post, instead of WHAT I wrote..and I have a sinking feeling that things will not get better for my grandmother at all, because the issue of whether she is well taken care off is NOT as interesting or as juicy for them compared to the issue of how rude and biadap I was..

I realise that my youth and foolish belief in thinking that I can change the world has done nothing more than hurt those that I love the most...

The grief grips me...

I am inconsolable at the moment.

Due to the overwhelming response surrounding my previous post, I have removed that post. My poor dad, he has nothing to do with this as this was my view on the matter from what I have seen and experienced, and he has always taught to me tell the truth, no matter how much it may hurt.

Airiel ohhh Airiel

Airiel amuses me to no end these days.

His vocabulary is rather extraordinary and he says things that you would not expect.

He is very opinionated and well, being in the 'terrible two' age, has tantrums sometimes.

He chooses the clothes he would like to wear and wants a share of Aries' perfumes to dab on before going out.

Whenever I get upset, he will come and hug me and say "Sayang mama"

He melts my heart.

These days he likes doing housework, like sweeping the floor, mopping and even cooking! And joins in whenever I do the chores in his own adorable way.

This is his way of looking at you out of the corner of his eye

I am not a fan of Ramadhan buffets, but since Aries needed to take a flight back to JB at 9 in LCCT and I had already eaten measly KFC at for buka puasa the week before, he decided to indulge me in a buffet nearby.

The buffet was at degrees, Pan Pacific KLIA. It was priced at RM93++ per pax. Pricey kan? Well, anyway, let the pics do the talking:-

Raya shopping

Sorry readers for the absence of substantial updates to this blog.

You guys would know by now how much of a foodie I am, and it constitutes almost 80% of my posts these days. Being the ramadhan month, I have not gone out to buka puasa (not even once). Hanya berbuka di rumah.

Ramadhan has been good and wonderful, and I will definitely be sad to see it leave soon for another year. I have finished half of the juzu' thanks to some rather sleepless nights. And I hope I can finish the whole of our Holy Quran by next week. It is a peace filled month, to my heart and my soul.

Moving on to Raya shopping, can you believe it, I am 99% done for my Raya shopping !!. My baju raya was tailored and dah siap months ago. So last week just went looking for Aries and Airiel's baju Melayu and a few little trinkets. Tak rasa nak beli tudung baru sbb tudung kat rumah dah banyak. I don't know how to wear shawls and muka bulat so tak sesuai pakai, so i'll stick to Tudung Bawal.

Maybe this week nak beli kasut Aries sbb selipar and kasut Airiel dah terlampau banyak sgt. I'l maybe buy one pair of shoes.

Cukuplah persediaan sederhana sahaja.

But I have finally found my Raya bag for this year! Ini takleh lepas ok Hehe, saw it yesterday and terus beli sebab jatuh cinta. It's from the new 2011 fall collection from Longchamp. Simple and sesuai dengan theme this year!!

Hehe, I bought the bag from I Want Bags. I am eyeing some other bags for daily use sbb my old Poppy dah pudar warna and its patent leather is cracking.

Can you guess what the theme is for our small family's raya this year?

It is funny how your memory fails you in the most uncanny of times. You forget things which you are supposed to remember. And how your memory just remembers things which should have been long forgotten.

I no longer dwell on the past, or draw from it. I distance myself from it as much as I can... and try to divert my attention to other things when I feel the sharp stabbing sensation in my chest that indicates how vividly I remember.

And I am ok on most days.

But when the memories flood you, you just drown in it. They do not give you room to breathe, to run away. It engulfs you... and I stand my ground. Eventually the feeling subsides.

And so Rose Kennedy is right. My mind recomposes itself as a protective mechanism so that I can remain sane.

May this Ramadhan give me strength and solace and a slippery memory (hehehe) so that I can finally forget what I do not need to remember.

Osteria Realblue, Solaris Dutamas

I know its the fasting month, but I just have to blog about this one particular restaurant in Solaris Dutamas where I work. I went here with Farah Shu. This was on last Thursday before puasa.

The yummy sambal served here is made with anchovies and was absolutely delicious and spicy.

As our starters, we were recommended the smoky mozarella (just arrived from Bologna that very morning!) which were recommended by Sherry, the owner's wife who also worked there. It was served with olives and sun dried tomatoes. Delicious till the very last bite.

We were given a heap of homemade bread to eat while waiting for our food.

I ordered the special on the menu, the beef tartare. The last time I saw this on a menu anywhere was 12 years ago in the UK. Have not seen it since. So I ordered it straightaway.

Just to give you a heads up, beef tartare is pure raw beef, mixed with ingredients of your choice. I chose to mix mine with shallots, mustard, olive oil and garlic, some salt and worcestershire sauce. As you can see Sherry is passionately mixing the beef for me.

This is how the tartare was served. With a hearty salad and some caramelised apricot (I think). The beef melted in my mouth and was absolutely delicious (beef is from australia and have been certified halal).

Prices are not exactly cheap but the quality of the food is superb. I have been told by Sherry that the only open from 6.00 p.m onwards on weekdays and are only full day on weekends. However, weekends are on a 'reservations only' food service and the restaurant is usually fully reserved.

Osteria Realblue is definitely a restaurant which I will come back to again and again (maybe once a month la kan sebab mahal) because the food is just so so good!.

Had the fortune (or misfortune depending on how you look at it) to go to JB for a hearing, only to find on the day of hearing that my file has been closed (WTF?).

Anyways, Aries being extra nice knew the only thing that could make me smile is FOOD, took me to some amazing places. Shall start:-

Haha, the title of this post macam drama. But this is what Farah Shu told me when she managed to persuade me to go to dinner with clients (on a Saturday no less!!)

As the Bersih rally went on last Saturday, I watched anxiously and kept up with the news on Malaysiakini.

I remember how my maid was pissed as she had to cancel her leave.

As the drama unfolded, so did the posts, comments and blogs of my fellow friends. It was only then did I realise how different we all are, in so far as opinions, beliefs and views are concerned.

I know some of my friends struggle to keep their composure in defending what they believe in, I know some were cynical, I know some were angry, I know some were downright rude.

But were you, any of you there to witness the events? When you hear rumors of what happened, did you take steps to verify it?

I don't know what happened and so wisely, I shall not open my mouth and comment. Lets read from those who were there:-

Papillion, Solaris Dutamas

I have not been updating for a while. Been busy with things at work.

So anyways, amidst the restaurants popping up like mushrooms after the rain at my workplace, which is apparently a 'happening place' for some. Papillion is a quaint little restaurant nestled next to Comida. They have a lunch promotion which a colleague and I decided to try out.

This is the starter, creamy pumpkin soup. I loved the texture

My carbonara. I personally love this, but a friend of mine who tried this much later stated that it was nothing extraordinary. I disagree

My colleague had the lamb chops.

Cinnamon Tea was complimentary. Yummy, this was just great. The cinnamon taste was enough to titillate the taste buds, but were not overpowering.

My fave part about the restaurant, we get to put in our own pepper! You know how annoying it is when restaurant waiters do it for you and then take it away...hehe.

The set came with ice lemon tea but I did not take pics of those.

The lunch set is priced reasonably at RM16.90.

The 'Bersih' furore

I am apathetic to all things political.

My dad may be somewhat of an opposition activist, as some would call him. But I see him as something different.

He has worked, all throughout his life to help people in need. I have seen him help people all across religion, race and without due care or regard to their political inclinations. He is a devout muslim and so, I believe deep down, he feels like he must align himself to a political party which he can identify himself with. I believe that he truly believes the cause for which he contributes every ounce of his energy to. And for that I respect him as I cannot imagine myself doing or believing in anything remotely close to what he has accomplished.

But the reality is this. The people in his own party do not appreciate him. His values and work (for which he asks for absolutely nothing in return) are shunned by people who has agendas and political motivations and inclinations of their own. These people do not care about anything else but how they can reach the top and they do that by hiding behind their kupiah's and tudung's and by reciting the holy words of Quran but that which does not ring true in their hearts. Do they care about making things better? They DON'T. Do they care about you and me or other issues plaguing this society and country. They DON'T. And another reality is this, it is these kind of people, who always win and get the upper hand. And for that I respect my father even more, as it bothers him not one bit, and he continues carrying on his work and mission to help others.

From him and what he has gone through, I learned that power, money and fame runs in the veins of every political party, ruling or opposition aside.

So do I agree with Bersih or care about the rumours of its cause being politically tainted? I am apathetic to their cause. This means it makes absolutely NO difference to me. The difference I see and feel is the kilos of rice, oil and eggs handed out to every single mother in Puchong and other areas by my father every week, every problematic teenager counseled by my father who has turned a new leaf and every student who was given financial help by my father who has now made something of themselves. That is what matters to me. Their tears and gratitude. They make the difference. Not any political party, not any over-idolised individual with their own agendas.

Do I agree with the Bar Council and its support for it? I believe that the Bar Council should remain over and above all political inclinations and instead look after the interests of its members.

But what is happening in this country is disturbing me right now. I am a citizen of this country, I should have the right to assemble in a group, walk peacefully and show my disagreement towards something. That is my inherent RIGHT. Whether I exercise that right or not, is completely up to me. But should I exercise that RIGHT, no act of violence should be imposed on me.

It is not the idea of clamping down on 'Bersih' which is upsetting me. It is the idea of taking away a RIGHT which was given to me by my forefathers who marched and walked and obtained independence for this country from colonial rule. It is the idea of telling/instructing me the way I should think, they way I should act, the way I should dress. This is NOT the democracy which our forefathers fought for with their tears, sweat and blood. They would shiver in their graves seeing at how this country has been torn apart.

The action by the current administration in respect of the Bersih issue is merely a symptom of a more disturbing desease. And what disturbs me more is that I do not knowwhat that desease is.

At the back of my mind, I have that nagging feeling that something has been taken away from me. Something which I know is mine. That RIGHT.

I shudder to think what right will be forfeited next. We will all see...yes we shall.

Pepper Raz's, Solaris Dutamas

Farah Shu and I ended up at this place when we were just walking around, looking for a new place to eat.

This was what we ordered

They gave us some poppadoms with a mint dip while we were waiting for our order

The assorted bread basket we ordered.. bread was fluffy and delicious

This was Farah Shu's mushroom. It was absolutely delicious

Paneer Butter Masala (yummy and very unhealthy). Hehe

My chicken tikka was moist and full of flavour

Dhall. I'm not a fan so I did not eat any.

The total came up to about RM80++ plus drinks. The food was absolutely delicious but the servings were rather big, I think it was enough for four persons and not just us 2. Anyways, farah shu ended up taking them home to her mum sbb banyak leftovers.

I would definitely come again.

Huh,

I forgot to tell you guys about an incident which totally pissed me off on Saturday.

I was there to pick up my in laws balik dari umrah.

Aries, being the smarty pants (and perhaps too used to be able to park anywhere he wants in JB without repercussions [do not ask me why]) parked at the drop off place at KLIA while he looked for the in laws.

Airiel was sleeping on my lap.

Suddenly pak cik p*&%s ketuk my car. I wind down the windows and the pakcik p)&^s bellowed (and i mean bellowed and for this reason only I shall be using caps lock in my fonts to represent how he spoke) "AWAK BOLEH BAWAK KERETE KER? LAKI AWAK MANA? AWAK TAK BOLEH PARKING SINI LAH!!!!"

To which I answered 'Sorry encik, hasben saya parking sini sekejap saja sbb nak ambil mertua saya balik umrah, saya call sekarang suruh dia gerakkan, jap ye encik'

Sial punya pakcik p$#%s, his bellowing woke Airiel up!. I lost my temper and told him 'I already called my husband to move the car, what about the 1000 cars that has parked behind me and in front of me, why dont you tell them move? why do you have to scream so loud so as to awaken my son, why don't you have any manners at all?'. And he just blinked and started getting angry (on top of the already angry shouting). Ehhh please lah, so you're a c!@, you're not used to having people talk back is it? You're used to having people so deadly afraid of you, begging you, pleading for your mercy? Tolongla jangan saman tuan...tolongla this, tolongla that... so you can sesuka hati jerit kat seorang ibu yang sedang menidurkan anaknye ke? Kalau isteri kau yang kene baru kau tahu.

Weii, tak matila aku kena saman dgn ko pun, aku memang suka contribute duit kepada raja (and by that I mean the collossal new palace the government is building, I mean itu memang duit cukai dan saman aku la kann) dan negara.

And then Aries came, and the c@$ was babbling at Aries. And then Aries actually said to me 'Jangan nak cakap macam org pandai dengan p^%$#, jangan nak pepandai, Cakapla elok-elok'

And I was like, what the fish? First of all, he was the one who parked at the drop off which I would never do. Always park at the car park to avoid this from ever happening.

Second of all, the #$%@^&man was downright RUDE. I know it was wrong to park there. I told you elok elok I would move the car, why the FISH would you need to scream to me for sampai bangunkan budak kecik dari tido? TAK BOLEH CAKAP ELOK ELOK KE WEII? MAK BAPAK TAK AJAR NAK CAKAP BERSOPAN KE? You want people to be polite to you, you have to be polite to them as well la kan. Ain't a one way street mister.

You know if I was a ^%P or some D#@ or some shit like that, I know for a FACT that the treatment would be a 180. They'd probably call me Puan and kiss the freakin ground I walk on.

On the Table, Solaris Dutamas

If you are a fan of flogs (food blogs) you know that there has been nothing but praises for On The Table with the head chef being Ridz Redzuan, Chef Wan's son.

I have been here quite a lot because I work in Solaris Dutamas, and I have to tell you, this is absolutely true.

When I went there for dinner with Farah Shu, a colleague of mine. They were having some kind of dinner promotion. Buy one main course from their menu, choose another main course offered in their promotion for free!!!

So my friend chose the Basciola and I choose the TT Texas Burger.

I am bugged because I can't post the pics up all of a sudden.

But the food was good! I have eaten the Basciola time and time again here and am never disappointed and the TT Texas Burger was juicy on the inside.

It was just a great eating experience. Will come again, as usual.

Will upload the pic once this blogger thing works again. Shesshh I promise...

This is my current fave song, I liked this before it became such a meteoric hit. The lyrics touch me...
Although I am comfortable with how I am feeling these days and the healing process is moving along, the lyrics was once 'me'.

And I think this song applies to everyone, family members who takes advantage of you, friends who do not appreciate you, spouses who betray you, bosses who undermine you. It is an empowering song indeed. At least that's what is was for me.

Went here for lunch with a colleague.

Welcome to Poyo, Simply Malaysian

A colleague of mine had this bihun sup and said it was bland...its as if no salt was put in at all

My fried paru was ok, but then it could have used a little more salt

My nasi ulam was fine, with the potent sambal being the highlight of the dish

It was not all that bad, but was not great either. What I liked about the place was the nice and cozy ambiance.

So if you want Malaysian dishes toned down to perhaps suit the tourists or the many expats that roam this area, this is the place for you.
